Since their humble beginnings Liverpool FC have grown to have a huge fan base and a stadium at Anfield in Liverpool that holds a seating capacity of 45,362 people.

The formation of Liverpool FC is an interesting story as it involves their biggest rivals Everton who are also based in Liverpool. Story has it that John Houlding had a dispute with Everton.

The dispute was that John Houlding, who was the Everton Director, also held the ownership of Anfield Park where Everton Football club had played for 8 years. Everton enquired into purchasing the land from John Houlding but felt he was trying to make a personal gain out of the deal and so backed out. John Houlding then asked them to vacate the land and built his own club, Liverpool Football Club.

Since its birth as a football club Liverpool has won all of the major football trophies both domestic and European including the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup (currently called the Carling Cup), the Champions League, UEFA Cup.

The nickname of Liverpool FC is “The Reds” which is probably because of the all red football strip the team wears.
