The Beatles were formed in Liverpool in 1958 by John Lennon and were initially called “The Quarrymen”. After a short time the name changed a few times from “Johnny and the Moondogs” and “Long John and The Beetles”. After these name changes the band finally rest with the world famous name, The Beatles.
From these humble beginnings The Beatles took the world by storm with amazing songs such as ‘A Hard Day’s Night’, ‘Help!’, ‘Let It Be’ and many, many more. Today, fifty years on their music still lives on in the hearts of many who have heard of them.
The Cavern Club
You can begin your tour by visiting the Cavern Club where the Beatles made 292 appearances before really breaking it into the big time.
The Cavern Club today has about 40 bands a week playing and sees many tourists come to have their photo taken on the stage where the Beatles once played.
How to get to the Cavern Club
By Car: take the M62 into Liverpool. Once the motorway comes to an end turn onto Edge Lane (called the A5080 which then turns into the A5047). Follow Edge Lane until it comes to Lime Street, turn left onto Lime Street then take the right turn for St. Johns shopping centre where there is a multi storey car park.
From the car park the Cavern Club is a 5 to 10 minute walk.
By foot: the Cavern Club is 5 minutes from Liverpool Central Station and 10 minutes from Liverpool Lime Street railways station.

How to get to the Beatles Story

Follow Edge Road into Liverpool city centre then take Lime Street, into Renshaw Street before turning down Ranelagh Street (turns into Hanover Street) and Albert Docks is located at the end of Hanover Street..
By public transport: Albert Dock is a twenty minute walk from both Lime Street railway station and Queen’s Square bus station.
