We are looking for the Best Liverpool Cake Shop. Can you help?
It’s 11am. I, foolishly and as usual, skipped breakfast as once I hit my emails time just slips away! It is about this time of day when the need for sustenance arrives and I am never sure whether to opt for breakfast or lunch. This is truly CAKE TIME!
What cake is your favourite? or do you change your preference depending on your mood/the weather/what day of the week it is? Just any excuse for cake really!
Right now I am thinking Chocolate Eclair – but then I find that often they can be disappointing when they arrive. If the amount of chocolate topping isn’t just right or the choux pastry is not quite fluffy enough I am left feeling completely let down.
I am not a custardy person so that rules out the famous slice which my mother simply adores. I have never really learnt how to eat a custard slice without loosing most of the inside onto my lap (should be using a plate really!) in the first bite – maybe I am missing the knack?
Carrot Cake with icing is a favourite but I eat cake so rarely nowadays (and I tell fibs too!) that I often feel that this is not a luxurious enought choice for my saught after treat.
Again, I am fond of Danish Pastries but unless warmed up and with a huge dollop of vanilla ice-cream the experience can be less than satisfying.
I think you know where I am heading with this one!
CHOCOLATE – IT HAS TO BE CHOCOLATE CAKE!
Rich, moist and preferably involving fresh cream into the bargain – my cake choice today is chocolate.
What’s yours?

@feelouise has told me that a little known cheesecake factory on Smithdown Road has a great reputation. So we have added Dafna’s Homemade Cakes to our Liverpool Bakeries and Patisseries section.
