Celebrate 250 years of Guinness – Arthur’s Day in Liverpool – 24th September 2009

guiness-250th-glassArthur’s Day will be celebrated in Liverpool to honour the man, Arthur Guinness, who in 1759 signed a 9000-year lease on St James’s Gate Brewery in Dublin marking the beginning for the iconic black stuff.

Guinness is hosting worldwide celebrations.

Many celebrities, including Jerry Hall, Sophie Dahl and Sir Bob Geldof, will be involved in raising their Guiness glasses to Arthur at 17.59.

A Global music gig on Arthur’s Day, 24th September 2009, will include the likes of Kasabian, Razorlight, & The Kooks who will be joined by over 60 music acts performing in studio gigs across Dublin and around the world in places including New York, Lagos, Yaoundé and Kuala Lumpur.

You can watch the Dublin gig and join in the celebrations by heading to pubs across the UK that are hosting Arthur’s Day parties and broadcasting the Arthur’s Day gig live from 17:59 on Sky Pub TV channel 881.

Arthur’s Day marks the establishment of the new Arthur Guinness Fund, with Guinness donating 5 million Euros, which will help people gain skills to use within their own communities.
