@ Pacific Road Arts Centre
Getting better all the time and the recipients of some rave reviews recently, Scouse melody-makers TJ & Murphy are riding upon the crest of a wave at the moment. Delicate, emotional music, made with a lightness of touch but so much conviction, is the finger-picking duo’s stock-in-trade and it’s a formula that is winning them lots of fans. New album Weary Nights is a cracker and a recent launch gig at Mathew Street’s View Two Gallery proved the Liverpool lads can be heard above the din and deliver the goods live too. By turns intricate, melodic and memorable, TJ & Murphy are ones to watch.
Merseyside duo TJ & Murphy are a superbly balanced singer-song writing team with outstanding guitar playing who are making a name for themselves both locally and nationally. Their folk tinged songs are both sensitive and tuneful.

Appearing with Robert Brown
With his unique style and presence Robert delivers a wealth of styles and emotions throughout the roots spectrum. “His psychedelic folk cum blues cum jazz performances are unique yet accessible, eccentric yet consistent”. Robert is one of those rare performer’s who not only has the songs, but the voice and guitar skills all in the single package.
Also with John O’Connell – Formally of Ground Pig
John plays many styles of music and if you were to see him play live you would be pleasantly suprised to hear music from the likes of The Pogues, David Gray, Cat Stevens, U2 and Oasis. John also plays a wide range of instruments such as Nylon Stringed Guitar, Steel String, Mandolin, Five String Banjo and Harmonica. He also mixes into his live sets and number of his own original songs from his two latest albums which have been featured many times on the radio.

T.J. and Murphy played a short set of 8 songs in all, including the beautiful ”Johanna Love”, ”Island Of The Saints”, ”Not Enough”, and ”Old Dog”, which featured some of the best acoustic guitar playing I’ve ever heard. The songs of T.J. & Murphy are so melodic and the lyrics so beautiful that their music can best be described as music for the soul. Several times I closed my eyes and was taken away to another place filled with these heavenly harmonies and touching lyrics.
Definitely an act worth seeing and their debut cd ”Weary Nights” is available for purchase from http://www.myspace.com/thomasjosephandmurphy
