Go Penguins – A Winter’s Trail
Liverpool city centre has been transformed into a Winter Wonderland this Christmas and with the arrival of The Year of the Environment’s Wild Art’s Go Penguins has to be the best place to enjoy your Christmas shopping this year.
The penguins arrived on 22nd November and the free public art trail can be followed throught Liverpool and the surrounding region until 10th January 2010.

The Go Penguins sees Penguins settling in for Christmas in St Helen’s and the Wirral, with the help of Wirral Council and St Helen’s Council with school colonies on display through St Helen’s town centre and from Birkenhead to West Kirby.
Two different breeds of over 200 Liverpool Penguins have come to town – you can search out the 3ft models created by local Merseyside schools and community groups and the impressive and beautifully designed 5ft penguins contributed by the artists.

The intention of the Go Penguins art display is not simply to brighten up Merseyside for the Christmas season, it is intended to send out an important message and remind us all of the impact we have on our environment and to encourage us to think more about the way we look after our planet throughout the year.

So which pengins have you spotted so far?
And which is your favourite?
We’ve put a few of our favourites from the city centre right here and we would love to add yours to the flock!
Pop your photos over to us at support@directoryofliverpool.net and we guarantee they will be posted right here with the rest of the crew. Let’s see if we can’t get the whole collection together before they disappear after Christmas.
