Ink-launch2The Masque is a brand new music venue born out of the ashes of the old Barfly. The building has been refurbished from top to bottom and reopened on the 18th September as a brand spanking shiny new building.  Since take over, and through our refurb, we have increased the Masque Liverpool capacity to 600 in the Theatre, 350 in the Loft, and 300 in Ink, the tattoo studio inspired rock and roll bar.

What’s great about the Masque Liverpool Nightclub and Venue is that each room has it’s own unique feel, and we’ve really exploited this in the refurb.  We’ve returned the Theatre back to it’s original features and installed a balcony as well as a 360º bar within the room itself. There is now a Funktion One system in the room, with an explosive lighting rig making it one of the best looking and sounding rooms in the city.

The Loft has remained largely unchanged as it’s a great performance space for both DJs and live acts.  It also has a balcony and a large bar.

The design of Ink as a stand alone bar brings a new clientèle to the venue as well as providing customers with a nice area to enjoy a drink pre and post gig.  You can also experience live music in this room several nights a week for free.

Masque Liverpool Reviews

“I had the pleasure of recently attending the launch night for the new tattoo inspired Ink Bar in Liverpool, and I was pretty stoked with what I saw. First of all, Tattoo inspired you say, what does that exactly entail? Well it was visual treat of inked beauty on the walls with spotlight lit artwork in a bright modern venue. Banishing the dark dingy stigma of both tattoo parlours and night clubs…

Nick Peet gets some colour down at Ink

“JUST when you think you’ve seen and experienced it all some bright spark drops a working tattoo studio into the middle of a late night bar – and all hell breaks loose.

Welcome to Ink, the best and most genuine rock bar to open its doors on the Banks of the Mersey.

After a wave of cocktail lounges and New York style boutique bars has washed in the city like a tsunami over the past 10 years it appears that a fresh wind has brought in a new tide – and it’s filled with swashbuckling pirate ships.

Rock bars have forever been synonymous the world over with wild nights on the tiles and over the past six months a spate have opened up across the city, boasting loud music, strong liquor and fierce decors.

The latest, and arguably the best, of this ilk is Ink on Seel Street, the former home of the Barfly, and little brother of live music venue The Masque.

As its name suggests the bar has a genuine traditional tattoo theme but the new owners have spared no expense in transforming it into a real eye-catching, comfortable night out…

Ink-launch1The Masque Liverpool Mission!

Our focus is providing the best bands and club nights to intimate audiences.  We provide, good service, good drinks, good bands, good DJs in a great looking venue.  Customers really appreciate the calibre of acts we’ve been providing and there is a special atmosphere surrounding the venue.

The bonus with having three different sized rooms is that each space allows for different level acts.  The rooms each adapt well between club rooms and live performance spaces.  What’s interesting is that we’re getting a lot of interest from bigger bands because of our improved facilities, and the way the venue looks.  On top of this, as we’re an independent company, we’re favoured more by local bands and promoters who frequent the venue.

Performers at the Masque Liverpool

Some of the shows we’ve had have been phenomenal including Daniel Johnston, The Slits, The Bays, Bombay Bicycle Club, Chrome Hoof, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, Foy Vance, The Apples, Marina & The Diamonds, Dananananakroyd.
The venue also still hosts world reknowned club nights Chibuku and Circus.  The club nights have been packed out with acts like Chase & Status, Benga and Skream.  We partook in Liverpool Music Week heavily and will also be one of the main venues for Sound City 2010.
