In 2010 New Year’s Eve – traditionally known as Chuxi – falls on the 14th February and signals the start of the longest Chinese holiday, lasting fifteen days; at this time Chinese families across the world will reunite for parties, present giving and feasts, to herald in the Year of the Tiger.
Chinese New Year Celebrations in Liverpool for 2010
Liverpool will be hosting spectacular celebrations in the Chinatown area of the city on 21st February 2010, from 11am until 4pm.
The streets of the area including: Nelson Street, Berry Stree, Great George Square and Great George Street will see traditional performances and parade as the Chinese community celebrate the beginning of the Year of the Tiger.
The Dragon, Unicorn and Lion Dance will take place between 11.10am and 3.30pm; with a firecracker display in Great George Square at 1pm.
Colin’s Fun Fair will be at Great George Street on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st February from 12 noon right through until 11pm
