Beatles artist Sir Peter Blake, who famously designed the ‘Sgt Pepper’ albumn cover, will be attending a Charity Dinner on the evening of 11th June at Ness Botanic Gardens on the Wirral.
During the dinner there will also be a ‘question and answer session’ with Sir Peter Blake.
Regarded as the Godfather of British Pop Art, a meeting with the Beatles led to him famously designing the album cover for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band in 1967.
Sir Peter Blake’s work crosses all generational divides, and inspires great respect from younger artists such as Damian Hirst and Tracey Emin. Knighted in 2002, an honorary doctor of the Royal College of Art, with his iconic work represented in major collections throughout the world, Sir Peter Blake truly is a grandee of British Art.
As part of the ‘Swinging Sixties’ London scene, Sir Peter’s close contact with the leading figures of popular culture served to heighten the nature of his work. In some respects we have all grown up with Sir Peter without really realising it, he has been at the heart of the British Art movement for over 50 years, his work is always varied, humorous, sometimes controversial, but never boring. His place as a pioneering English artist is assured as witnessed by the increasing popularity of his work.
An exhibition of Sir Peter Blake’s work will be staged for the charity evening and you will be able to see more of his work on his spectacular ‘Art Bus’ , a mobile art gallery equipped with cutting edge technology, a unique experience of contemporary art.
The exhibition inside the Ness Botanic building and on the ‘Art Bus’, will also show Sir Peter Blake’s original limited edition silkscreen’s all of which you will be able to buy during the evening.
Tickets for the dinner are available from Editions Ltd, 16 Cook Street, Liverpool Tel: 0151 236 4236.
