Join the fast and fluffy on April 16 at Liverpool’s Croxteth Hall and Country Park for a 5K fancy dress fun run / walk in aid of Clatterbridge Cancer Research. 

This is the perfect event for family and friends this Easter, and whether you jog, walk or stroll – you will be raising vital funds for cancer research. Life saving stuff all for a walk in the park.

Come for loved ones who have been affected by cancer, come for those you know who have recovered or to celebrate the lives of those you lost to the disease – but please do come.

LJMU fashion communication students are holding a Vintage and Crafts fair at Heebie Jeebies, Seel St. on the evening of 25th March.

The event will consist of music, fashion, jewellery, cakes and most importantly local artists and designers will be bringing their crafts to the table. 

With several stalls to rummage around you can find some hidden gems!

The students are hoping to raise money for charity throughout the night so it’s all for a good cause.

Come along and show your support, grab some bargains and dance the night away at one of Liverpool’s hot spots.

Carols by Candlelight is a very special event to celebrate the festive season and Mencap Liverpool’s 60th anniversary. Enjoy traditional Christmas songs, carols by the exceptional Sense of Sound choir and readings by special guests in a beautiful candlelit setting.

Come along at 6.30pm for wine and mince pies before the service, which begins at 7pm.

All funds raised will help Mencap provide life changing opportunities for people with a learning disability, so that they can live independent, full and valued lives.

- Pizza delivery experts sponsor football event in Bolton -

Domino’s sponsored the youth football event, which took place at Bolton Town Hall on Friday [October 29, 2010]. Kicking off at 10am, the StreetWise Soccer day saw freestyle footballers from across the UK showing off their skills in a freestyle competition. In addition, local youngsters tried their hands (and feet!) at a match in the Streetwise Soccer Panna Cage, as well as picking up hints and tips from workshops taking place throughout the day. The budding footballers also competed in a skills competition – the StreetWise Soccer freestyle football showdown – which was won by Connor McCarthy.

As part of Domino’s sponsorship, staff from the stores in Derby Street and Blackburn Road, Bolton, were on hand to assist with the sporting activities, as well as providing piping hot pizza slices for the town’s top young talent.

Paul Sampson, franchisee of the Domino’s Derby Street store, said: “As a local store, we’re very keen to deliver more to our community and are delighted to support the StreetWise Soccer event. Events such as these which encourage budding young footballers to get involved and develop their talents are a fantastic idea – and you never know, we might just have found some new stars for The Wanderers!”

Kevin Tasker, co-director of StreetWise Soccer, said: “Like all clubs and groups, we need the support of local businesses to keep going and I’m delighted to welcome Domino’s on board. The sponsorship was a great boost to the Bolton event and we had a great time welcoming the town’s budding footballers.”

After family, friends, and school sex education the media is the main source of sex advice for most of us.

And the more personal the topic, the more likely it is that we will use the media to try and find answers to our sexual problems – or to increase our sexual pleasures.

Unfortunately this is an area where there is little or no regulation. Anyone can set themselves up as a ‘sexpert’ and the credentials of those offering adviceare rarely checked.

As a result the quality of sex information providedby the media is variable, and often tied up with commercial ventures. Moreover, many journalists covering sex-related stories have (like many of us) inadequatesex education and lack basic understanding of health/science/cultural issues – resulting in much sex coverage reinforcing misunderstandingsaround hormones, performance, technique and health. The aim of this session is to highlight where there are problems (using real life examples of good and bad sex advice), outline why these problems arise, and provide some ideas about what we may do about this. Given that the topic of sex/relationships is often not considered within science or skepticism, or treated more as a joke topic, this session invites you to have fun but also reflect on wider issues that might impact on your sex life.

Beginning with a review of the evidence base on media advice giving, and using case studies of good and bad media sex coverage this talk invites skeptics to consider ways they may address problems in media sex coverage and related issues.
