Exhibition:
Hitched,
Wedding Clothes and Customs

The new exhibition Hitched, Wedding Clothes and Customs will explore the history of marriage and the customs surrounding it, from Victorian times to the present day.

While focusing on the changing styles in wedding dress during that time, the exhibition will also look at contemporary ceremonies, such as same sex partnerships and pagan weddings.

About 20 outfits, including wedding dress from Liverpool’s Jewish, Chinese and Traveller communities will be featured.

This exhibition will show historic costume dating from 1850, photographs, contemporary artefacts and personal histories.

And We The Undersigned – (aka WtU!) a nine-piece Liverpool based band/collective, inspired by Reggae, Funk, Folk, Hip-Hop and Rock vibes. They have been playing together for around a year, with a couple of small festivals and numerous well received local gigs under their belts. WtU have supported the likes of A.S.M. feat. 6ixToys Horns, Chris Helme and ROX. They are set apart from the majority of local players by their massive five-piece brass section, named the BlowBax. They play politically motivated songs, requesting that people read some history and think for themselves. They are lovers of strong melody and harmony, true love and true democracy. Royal Birkdale Golf Club:
Women’s British Open 2010

The Ricoh Women’s British Open is one of the golfing highlights of the sporting calendar. In its 35th year, the Championship returns to the famous links of The Royal Birkdale Golf Club, one of the most historic golfing venues in the UK. The event takes place from Thursday 29th July to Sunday 1st August and the World’s best women golfers will once again be there battling it out for this prestigious title.

The Ricoh Women’s British Open is one of the most exciting Majors in golf. As the only women’s Major played outside the US it is the most international with the 2009 field boasting players from 25 different nations, including every player inside the world’s top 30. The field for 2010 will be equally as strong and will include the likes of world number one Lorena Ochoa, Michelle Wie, Paula Creamer, Ai Miyazato, Suzann Pettersen and the UK’s own Melissa Reid, Laura Davies and the reigning champion Catriona Matthew.

Along with the superb viewing platforms at The Royal Birkdale Golf Club, spectators will find the perfect opportunity to relax and savour the atmosphere when not out on the course; the Championship Village will host a number of exhibition and retail units, interactive activities, and public catering facilities for the whole family to enjoy.

The 2010 Ricoh Women’s British Open is set to be another fantastic tournament. Take the opportunity to watch the world’s best women players showcasing their talents when the Championship gets under way at the famous links course on the 29th July.
