Free health and wellbeing checks to prepare for ‘back to school’ rush 14th to 16th September Williamson Square, Liverpool 14th September 2010: As the summer comes to an end and the holiday blues start to kick in, cases of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) are expected to rise. In the modern world, everyday life presents us with many added stresses that can have lasting effects on our mental and physical health. Health and wellbeing experts at Benenden Healthcare Society believe that people need to have regular health checks to ensure that we can combat SAD and lead happy, healthy lifestyles in the run-up to winter. Many of us will also have to endure the stress of the mad ‘back to school’ scramble. The thought of making sure the kids are up, showered, dressed, fed and packed in the car ready for heavy rush-hour traffic is sure to leave parents sweating with anxiousness and reminiscing about this year’s relaxing stress-free summer holiday. While Seasonal Affective Disorder can affect anyone, diagnosis in young adults and students has seen a steady rise. With a large student population in Liverpool, all gearing up for the start of term, it is very important that they also get advice about living healthily. Benenden Healthcare Society will be hosting a free health and wellbeing ‘hotspot’ in Williamson Square, Liverpool next week from the 14th to 16th September providing health and wellbeing advice to help combat the heightened stress during this busy period.

14th September 2010: As the summer comes to an end and the holiday blues start to kick in, cases of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) are expected to rise.

As an independent, not-for-profit healthcare provider, The Society will be offering a range of interactive and advice services including fitness sessions, cholesterol, blood pressure, BMW and glucose level checks to the general public.

One-on-one consultancies about nutritional and lifestyle choices will be available and specialist nurses from the local RTC Independent Hospital in Fairfield will also be available to speak to people about any health concerns they may have, offering their advice on all issues related to general wellbeing. The Chief Executive of The Fairfield Hospital, Cheryl Nolan, will also be available for advice on Tuesday.

The Liverpudlian public are encouraged to drop by Williamson Square on the 14th to 16th September and discuss any common ailments, ask questions about their general wellbeing and seek advice on healthy living. The three day event is part of the healthcare provider’s regional hotspot campaign aimed at raising awareness about the importance of looking after your own health and how people can take better care of themselves.
