The latest Frootful single  (released on 7th November 2011 on Freestyle Records) features a Latina version of the album track Slowtime with vocals from Angeline Morrison, Latin Strut and an instrumental remix of Slowtime by Lack of Afro.

The Frootful moniker extends beyond just music, as Nick Radford has been working under this name professionally as an illustrator for over ten  years.  Keen to fuse his two passions Frootful will be exhibiting a collection of his artwork and that of illustrators Bobby Telegramme and Millie Marotta in the howies store on Carnaby Street, London during November 2011 which will move to the Hand Bar in Falmouth, Cornwall for December. The collection includes limited edition screenprints of tour posters by each artist.

“I’m incredibly lucky that my work allows me to indulge and mix my two passions;  music and illustration. I’ve always produced the cover artwork for my releases but this tour is the first time that these two elements have truly come together and I am very excited to see the response.”

THE BATTLE FOR SUPREMACY begins this Thursday 10th and runs throughout Feb & March.

Mixers, scratchers and turntable junkies, This Feb Revolution will be unearthing Merseyside’s very best in turntable dexterity and audience satisfaction!  30 DJ’s compete over 8 weeks with the grand final falling on March 31st.
Contestants have just 25 minutes to do their impeccably choreographed thing, with DJs welcome to reach way outside of conventional dance/r&b/hip hop and feature rock, house, drum and bass and folk in their routines.

The successful turntable wizard will then go on to hold a residency in one of Liverpool’s Revolution venues. Other prizes include…2 flights and entry to CREAM Ibiza, Revolution vouchers and more!

Next month, the Cabin Club will host The Lentalists, The Portlands and Glassheads as part of the montly Loaded clubnight.

For those of you not yet to visit the mythical venue; The Cabin Club is Liverpools oldest music venue. It has hosted gigs and clubnights for over 50 years.

February will witness three live performances before Loaded clubnight takes you into the early hours.

THE LENTALISTS, formed from the ashes of Moco in late 2010 have played a handful of gigs to packed venues in Wigan over the last few months and will be heading to Liverpool for their first gig in the city.

Joining them are THE PORTLANDS and GLASSHEADS. The Portlands formed in 2009 and have since toured the world with their distinct brand of Folk-Rock n’ Roll. They recorded their debut album ‘Peace, Love, Soul’ in New York during 2010, which is set for release through Disk Records this summer. Glassheads formed in early 2009. Their music brings together influences ranging from reggae, rock n’ roll and hip hop, to soul, disco and Spanish guitar. Their debut single ‘Error Of Your Ways’ is due to be released soon.

The gig is followed by the monthly LOADED club night. The basement features the best in 60′s soul, beat, funk and rhythm n blues with the ground floor featuring indie, britpop and 60′s classics.

Doors are at 9pm with entry priced at £4. Door charge drops to £3 after the bands have finished at midnight.

When we started Evol years back there were a few underground artists that influenced everything we did, Peaches, Soulwax, Ladytron, Vitalic, LCD Soundsystem and Chilly, at the time it was his Entertainist album that was doing the business from Kitty Yo records in Berlin, but Chilly had already been a seasoned player in the game and continued to do so, working behind the scenes, shaping careers, hanging in the shadows and occasionally stepping out for brief moments in the limelight before retreating once more to focus on new styles. The ebb & flow of genius.

2010 has been a big year for Chilly.

His self released 7th studio album, produced by Boys Noize, ‘Ivory Tower’ has earned critical acclaim from across the music press to the broadsheets. Everyone it seems has been waiting for this sleeping giant to wake. But the album is only part of the deal, there’s a movie too, which we will be exclusively screened pre show, starring Chilly and longtime cohorts Peaches and Tiga, it’s not chequers, it’s chess. Masterful. And let’s not forgot how he ground out the hours to take a Guinness world record for continuous playing in Paris…

“This is a happy record,” Teddy Thompson says of his new Verve Forecast release A Piece of What You Need. “Well, maybe not happy, but upbeat. Actually, maybe not upbeat, but it does have some up-tempo songs! Anyway, it’s as close as I’ve gotten to making the record I’ve always wanted to make.”

Indeed, happy or not, A Piece of What You Need — Thompson’s fourth album overall and his third for Verve — is the London–born, New York–ba…sed artist’s most ambitious and accomplished effort to date, showcasing his formidable vocal, songwriting and guitar talents while venturing into rewarding new musical and lyrical territory.

Thompson’s trademark blend of catchy songcraft, pensive emotional insight and good–natured black humor is present on such new tunes as “In My Arms,” “What’s This?!!,” “Don’t Know What I Was Thinking” and the bittersweetly fatalistic “Turning the Gun On Myself.” The album’s effortless pop sensibility is matched by a playful sonic palette that incorporates such aural surprises as the careening brass band on “Can’t Sing Straight” and “One of These Days,” or the Hitchcockian orchestral rushes that haunt the cinematic “Jonathan’s Book.”

Thompson, son of folk-rock legends Richard and Linda Thompson, developed his musical drive early in life and launched his first band while still in his early teens. By the time he released his self-titled solo debut in 2000, he’d served a stint in his father’s touring band and contributed guitar and vocals to his dad’s albums You? Me? Us? and Mock Tudor. He subsequently co-produced and played on his mother’s 2002 comeback disc Fashionably Late, and toured as a member of Rosanne Cash’s backing band.

David Ford is a British singer-songwriter, currently living in Eastbourne, East Sussex. He first achieved prominence with the indie rock group Easyworld, who released an independent mini-album, …Better Ways to Self Destruct and two full-length albums on Jive Records before disbanding in 2004.

Ford branched into a solo career soon after, and has become known both for the sheer passion he puts into his songs, but also for being a master at the layered/looping effect he brings to many of his songs. He now has a large following having released two albums and toured extensively in the UK and US.

Marseille were at the very forefront of what later became known as the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). They toured with such legendary rockers as UFO, Whitesnake, Judas Priest and Ian Gillan. They were the first new wave heavy rock band to secure a recording contract and the very first of the NWOBHM bands to tour America. However, the legal entanglements surrounding the demise of Mountain kept the band sidelined and off the road for two critical years. By the time they had fought their way clear their “slot” was gone, already filled by other very talented acts.

The band reluctantly split in the early 80’s. Neil Buchanan went on to become the well known TV celebrity, artist and producer of ART ATTACK! Steve as the owner of a music biz PR company in Liverpool, Andy the owner of a theme park design agency in the USA. Keith as a manager at a well known London media company. They all kept in touch with each other through the years, often rehashing old Marseille “war stories” of life on the road.

Last year the planets finally “aligned” and all 5 members (including Paul Dale, the original vocalist) were able to meet up and jam together “Just for the crack”, as Neil put it. Even after 25+ years the old magic was still there….and the embers in the fireplace glowed a little brighter.

A “one-off” pair of gigs followed, with Dave Ling writing a favourable review of the London-Rock Garden gig in Classic Rock Magazine. Sadly, Paul decided he did not want to continue,but with the fire fully reignited in the rest of the band they invited the talented Nige Roberts to become the new voice of Marseille.

A new 4-track EP entitled FOURPLAY is the result with a new album called Unfinished Business currently being recorded for release in early 2010.
