If you’re a real ale enthusiast looking to quench your thirst, why not consider a short break in Liverpool? Here you’ll find a range of fantastic pubs that specialise in traditional beers, so taking a tour of the following establishments could prove a great way to spend a weekend. One place you should definitely make sure you stop by is The Baltic Fleet. Situated close to the city’s docks, this is the only pub in Merseyside to have its own brewery. Named Wapping, in honour of the street that it is located on, trying the house bitter here gives you the chance to sample a dry, hoppy-tasting and flavoursome ale, with Summer Ale and Baltic Gold among the other beers on offer. In addition to the extensive draught range, you’ll find dozens of international bottled beers to taste. A fantastic choice of ales can also be found at Thomas Rigby’s. Situated on Dale Street, in the heart of central Liverpool, this is one of the city’s oldest pubs and sells a wide selection of cask-conditioned and bottled beers from across the world. Not only is this a great place for a pint, but you can also tuck into some hearty pub food. Dishes such as scouse, a type of lamb stew popular in the region, and fish and chips are served at Thomas Rigby’s, with there being a particular focus on making the most of local produce.
